This Ancient Red waistcoat was made by David’s daughter-in-law Mairi. She embroidered his name in the lining.
I remember my daughter-in-law Mairi making this waistcoat for me, in 2018. It’s in the ‘Ancient Red’, which is slightly different to the ‘Red’ tie – the red is much more orange in the waistcoat. I wore this when it fitted, and probably fits me again now. At the Gathering in 2018 I wore it, and we went up to James Ossian’s obelisk at Balavil. It’s really nicely made – the whole thing comes together very well. It’s rather smart. Mairi embroidered my name in it, and that makes it into something of an heirloom, and that whoever inherits it will appreciate it even more. I’d forgotten what a nice waistcoat this is! And it is unique. Lovely – I really appreciate it.
