This Hunting pashmina is one of 6 made. It is made from cashmere and has a fringe on it, and is woven in such a way that the weft is tighter than the warp, creating more a stripe effect than squares. Marjorie told us:
I use this all the time – it’s my comfort blanket. I take it on planes and everywhere. Oh, it’s great. And I think there were only, what, six of them made. My husband Allan gave it to me as a present when I was going to Spain, about 30 years ago. I take it everywhere with me – it’s been all over the world. From memory, it cost a couple hundred pounds. I think the person who sourced them was called Methven – Minty, perhaps, or Bunty? I will never go travelling on an aeroplane without it, and once or twice it has acted as a sort of skirt – but I also take it to the Games, and I’m very worried in case anyone picks it up! You can’t trust those Macphersons…
