This dressing gown was made by Marks & Spencer under the ‘St Michael’ label, prior to 2000. It has a rogue double yellow stripe that makes it a ‘bumbee’ tartan – something that resembles the Macpherson tartan but isn’t quite right.
I found this dressing gown on Vinted, sold by a hospice charity in England. I love it – it is thick and warm and really long. It is one of those objects of ‘Clan Macpherson lore’ – I’d heard stories of the year everyone got one of these for Christmas and was delighted to find one. I wear it every morning.
